Fairtrade fortnight

Fairtrade fortnight

The Fairtrade Foundation is playing a vital role in creating more transparent supply chains which, for all of us in the food industry, is critical in enabling consumers to appreciate what lies behind our food and using consumer power to bring about positive change.

Some stats that underline the importance of this:

  • 71% of child labour employment is in agriculture
  • 19 million children aged five to eleven are involved in hazardous work
  • 2 billion people live on less than £1.50 a day.

Choosing Fairtrade provides a vehicle to respect workers’ rights, engage in fair business practice, prohibit child labour, guarantee fair pay and good working conditions.

It also supports the delivery of the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

21 February – 6 March 2022 is Fairtrade Fortnight and you can learn more here.
